St. Monica Catholic School is excited to start our annual Read-a-thon!

Read-a-thon is a fundraiser to support St. Monica that challenges students to read, both for fun and rewards. Participating students receive rewards for reading and fundraising, classrooms receive rewards for reading and fundraising, and our students and teachers benefit from the money raised!

PTO's fundraising goals for 2024-2025: help the school purchase additional STEM equipment, raise funds to help CYO pay for a gym divider, support the purchase of new 1st grade classroom furniture, and generally support the SMS budget.

October 25 - Claim your account by Trunk-or-Treat and receive an out-of-uniform pass (see the Read-a-thon tent at Trunk-or-Treat!)

Once Registered: Share your page and request donations

October 30 - Time to Read! Start reading and logging your minutes*

If 75% or more of SMS Families have claimed their accounts by the start of the event Mr. Schommer will read a book from the roof of the school.

November 4

If 50% or more of SMS students have received at least a $15 donation Mr. Schommer will learn a TikTok dance and do it on the morning news.

November 13

Last day to log reading minutes

Last day to collect donations (SCHOOL GOAL: $10,000)

If 75% of SMS students achieve their fundraising AND reading goal there will be an all-school out-of-uniform day on November 14.

Rewards:

All registered participants receive a bookmark

All students receiving $15 in donations will receive an out-of-uniform pass

Students receiving $50 in donations AND reaching their reading goal will be entered into a drawing to win an Amazon Kindle.

Students will have additional entries into the drawing for each $50 raised.

The classroom that reads the most minutes (avg/student) and the classroom raising the most money (avg/student) will each receive a class pizza party.

*This system is based on honest reporting. Suspected cheating will be addressed and PTO reserves the right to reduce/remove reading minutes in coordination with SMS administration, if needed.
